I don’t know what person needs to hear this but just because you have Indigenous heritage in your blood does not mean you can speak up or over actual Indigenous or Native people. It doesn’t matter if you are 1/16th, ¼th, or ½ by heritage, you do not get to speak on Indigenous matters unless you’ve grown up with that culture. You do not get a pass to ignore Indigenous voices or replace them with your own. Stop it. Listen to the people who know what they’re talking about and grew up with that culture. Your blood right means nothing without them.
